AI-assisted system applied to lung computer tomography interpretation

In view of the fact that lung cancer has been the number one cancer death rate in Taiwan for many years, it is generally difficult to detect small nodules less than 1 cm in diameter with traditional chest X-ray as a screening tool, so that the detection is usually in the advanced stage, low-dose lung The detection of small nodules from computer tomography images has good sensitivity and application. Since a computerized tomography group image contains hundreds of slice images, radiologists will be disturbed by blood vessels and other tissues when interpreting the group image, and it is easier to miss small nodules without finding them. This AI-assisted interpretation system, ClearRead CT, was approved by the U.S. FDA in September 2016 and was also announced at the RSNA annual meeting in the United

States in December of the same year. The Yuanrong system was first introduced and studied in March 2018, and in 2019 This system was officially approved by Taiwan TFDA in April. So far, this medical system is the only medical unit in Taiwan that has introduced this system. The way ClearRead CT works is to process chest CT computer tomography images with AI “deep learning algorithm”, remove blood vessels in them, reduce visual impairment factors that affect the doctor’s interpretation, and only keep possible nodules in the processed images.
