Precautions for Hypertensive Patients

  1. Causes:
  • 90-95% Primary Hypertension: Associated with genetic factors, constitution, etc.
  • 5-10% Secondary Hypertension: Kidney disease, renal artery stenosis, etc.
  1. Blood pressure standards:
  • Normal blood pressure: 120/80 mmHg.
  • Prehypertension: 120-139/80-89 mmHg.
  • Hypertension: Systolic pressure greater than 140 mmHg or diastolic pressure greater than 90 mmHg.
  1. Precautions:
  • If blood pressure has reached the above hypertension standards, it is recommended to consult a cardiologist for diagnosis and daily monitoring of blood pressure.
  • Once diagnosed with hypertension, it is important to take medication as prescribed and not discontinue it without medical advice.
  • Adopt a low-salt, low-fat diet; eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to prevent constipation.
  • Avoid smoking, alcohol, coffee, spicy foods, and other stimulating substances.
  • Avoid engaging in strenuous exercise or activities that excessively drain physical energy. Engage in moderate exercise and strive to maintain a healthy body weight.
  • Stay calm, maintain a relaxed state of mind, and keep a positive attitude.
  • Keep warm during winter by wearing hats, socks, etc., as appropriate.

  • Avoid bathing with water that is too cold or too hot.
